Wagerup Alumina Refinery - Increase in Production to 4.7 Mtpa; and Wagerup Cogeneration Plant

Project
Proposal description

Alcoa proposes to expand the Wagerup Refinery through construction of a third production unit.

The proposed production increase to approximately 4.7 Mtpa alumina is to be achieved by a combination of new equipment and upgrade of existing equipment in order to achieve an increase in both capacity and efficiency.

As the Wagerup Refinery has been subject to previous assessments, this represents a revised proposal pursuant to s 45B of the EP Act. The current maximum production permitted under the Refinery’s current EP Act Part V licence is 2.5 Mtpa.
