Smoke Creek alluvial mining further expansion, Argyle Diamond Mine (s46) [888]

Inquiry under s46 regarding amendment to Ministerial Statement 214 . This proposal is to mine approximately 24 million tonnes of diamond-bearing gravels from about 410 hectares of braided river channels within a total operations area of 550ha. The area is immediately downstream of the existing alluvial mine, which has been operating for five years, and will provide a further six years of mining. Smoke Creek drains into Lake Argyle. Poseidon Bow River Diamond Mines, East Kimberleys

Within its existing mining tenements Poseidon Bow River Diamond Mine Limited (Poseidon) proposes to extend its alluvial diamond mining operation into areas where ongoing exploration has defined economically viable alluvial reserves of diamonds. Alluvial diamond mine expansion, Smoke Creek

The proposal is for the mining and processing of approximately 12 million tonnes of alluvial gravels extending for a distance of 2.5km downstream beyond current mining operations in Smoke Creek. The company proposes to begin mining later in 1991 and the programme is expected to take five years to complete. Application for prospecting licence 80/1138 Remote Island, Lake Argyle

The Environmental Protection Authority has assessed a proposal to explore for minerals, under prospecting licence 80/1138. The application impinges on an island in Lake Argyle which is part of a national park proposal in Red Book recommendation 7.10. A prospecting licence (described in Part IV, Sections 40- 56 of the, Mining Act 1978, ) allows the licencee to explore for all minerals in or under the land. Poseidon Bow River Alluvial Diamond Mine Expansion, Kimberleys

Poseidon Bow River Diamond Mine Limited (Poseidon) operates an alluvial diamond mine on part of Lissadell Station, which is at the southern end of Lake Argyle in the Kimberleys. The original mining proposal was for an area of about 500 hectares and operations have been progressing since 1988 under mining lease conditions. Argyle diamond mine - Alluvial Mining Project

Argyle Diamond Mines Pty Ltd has submitted a proposal to recommence the mining of alluvial diamonds from Smoke and Limestone Creeks within its Argyle mining lease. The project is expected to process about 5 million tonnes of gravel for a return of approximately 5.3 million carats over a three year period, beginning about July 1989. Read more...

Bow River alluvial diamond project

The proposal is to mine alluvial diamonds in the Bow River area of Western Australia. The proposal involves the establishment of a plant to process riverine gravel. The fine waste material will be disposed of in a tailing dam and the coarse waste material dumped near the processing plant. The diamondiferous material will be concentrated in a Heavy Medium Separater and then sorted using an x-ray diamond sorter. The plant will process 4,000 tonnes per day.
