The Proposal is a gas-fired power station - connected to the State-owned South West Interconnected System through the Yandin Terminal Substation. The Proposal will consist of one gas turbine and ten reciprocating engines and is designed to generate up to 400 MW of electricity during periods of peak demand.
The Proposal is to be located on freehold land approximately 135 km north of Perth, within a 43 ha development envelope. There will be two entry and exit points from Mimegarra Road, with the western entry/exit point being the main entry for operation and construction. The eastern access road will be used only as an emergency entry/exit point. The Proposal will require a disturbance footprint of up to 23.1 ha. Of this disturbance, approximately 0.3 ha will be undertaken within native vegetation.
Natural gas will be the primary fuel source via a purpose-built lateral pipeline from Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline. The lateral pipeline will be constructed separately by others and does not form part of the Proposal.
The Proposal will be located on freehold agricultural land in the Cataby area.
